Hamarøy rural garden – a moving and thought-provoking exhibition about Sigfred and Ragnar

"BY BOAT THROUGH current – a journey back to Husøyvær" is an exhibition developed and produced by Skírnir AS in collaboration with Helge Haukeland and Hamarøy Municipality. The project is supported by Sparebanken Nord-Norges gift fund and Hamarøy Municipality.

The exhibition builds on the award-winning documentary film "Sigfred and Ragnar and the Seven current" , created by Helge Haukeland in collaboration with Leif-Erik Michaelsen. It tells the story of how generations of people on Husøyvær have managed nature with respect, so that they could reap its riches. At the same time, it highlights the vulnerability of nature when no one takes care of it anymore.

Through an evocative combination of photographs, texts, old film footage, unique sound clips and installations, the audience gains insight into the old islanders' reflections on nature and the environmental challenges we face. The exhibition provides a strong reminder of the interaction between humans and nature – and the importance of safeguarding this legacy for the future.
